Service Contracts:             

Larger companies that maintain a full-time staff of at least one person in an Information Technology (IT) department see a much larger return for their money than companies that do not. This is due largely to the fact that while the department is available for troubleshooting or repairs, they spend the bulk of the time maintaining the network. This includes monitoring servers to insure that they are operating within acceptable limits, and that error logs are checked constantly for early warnings. Updating servers and workstations with current virus protection patterns is also a large part of the responsibility. They also devote time to researching new technologies for management that may further increase the company's efficiency. They are able to plan network outages in advance, thus minimizing the impact on daily company operations. In any company of any industry, much effort is made to forecast all of the inherent systems within that company. Unfortunately, while the smaller company cannot justify the expense and overhead of hiring full-time IT support, their needs are just as great if not more critical to the successful operation of the company.
